Welcome to the touch art of Clark North
Thank you for your interest in this website where I share my passions, with friends and art lovers from all around the world
What started off as childhood passion & hobby's has now become part and parcel of my life as I continue in these media. Through this new website, i hope you will learn more about myself as an artist and as a person in general.
My life has always held a strong love for japanese art and myth, especially the woodblock (Ukiyo-e) prints of the 1700's & 1800's, you will see this influenced in a lot of my original art, also i have always loved the human portrait in fine art, the strong emotional connection one can feel just from looking at a painting, to feel & know the subject of the portrait as well as the artist, with paintbrush in hand.
In this most recent decade, I have become a bit bored with most of the modern paintings and arts i have seen, unimpressed and bored with the "absolute perfect" reproduction of a photograph to achieve portraiture, wheres the passion in that. Truly the photograph is a piece of art in itself, but to "absolutely duplicate" it in paint, to me, is a redundant skill (yes it is a true skill) i have yet to understand.
In portraiture, the elements that are important to me, are to feel the subject as well as the artist, to see paint movement, thickness, transparency and brush strokes etc, just knowing it was done by hand, and not with modern media shortcuts. i feel an importance and a responsibility for lineage, I feel each piece of art can, and should be, handed down from generation to generation, the artists sweat and emotion put onto the paper or canvas the day he leaned over and touched it, will still be there.
To hold an original piece of art, rather than download a file on a computer, can be a great moment in a persons life, and it is possible that this will all be lost in the future.
Art lovers will be able to view some of my artworks here and if you're interested, please contact me for commissioning and purchasing original paintings.
If you have always been keen to pick up painting as a hobby. Please message me, I'd be happy to show you how easy it is...("click" underlined for more)
