Touch Art
Thank you for your interest, in this web-site I share my passions, with art admirers and friends from around the world.
What started off as childhood passions & hobby's has now become part and parcel of my life as I continue in these hands on media. Through this website, I hope you will learn more about myself as an artist and as a person in general.
My life has always held a strong love for craftsmanship and art, especially Japanese ukiyo-e and myth. The woodblock (Ukiyo-e) prints of the 1700's & 1800's influenced in a lot of my original art is the main influence for my tattoo styled crafts as well as tattoo, also i have always loved the portrait in fine art, the emotional connection one can feel just from looking at a painting, to feel & know the subject as well as the artist, with paintbrush in hand.
In portraiture, the elements that interest me, are...emotion, personal attachment, imagination, to feel the subject, to feel as if you are visiting with the subject, even though you do not see it in the painting, you know there is more going on, sometimes you even want to be part of the painting yourself, a feeling of wanting to be in the painting, part of that short moment, if the viewer feels a little of that, i have achieved that goal ... also wanting to know the artist as well as the subject, to see paint movement, thickness, transparency and brush strokes etc, just knowing it was done by hand, and not with modern media shortcuts.
I feel a responsibility for lineage, I feel each piece of art can, and should be, handed down from generation to generation, the sweat and emotion put onto the paper or canvas the day he leaned over and touched it, will still be there. To hold art, rather than download a file from a computer, can be a great moment in a persons life, and it is possible that this will all be lost in the future.
feel free to view some of my artworks and passions here, and if you're interested, please contact me for commissioning or purchasing original paintings.
